The Return of the King Plot

With the return of Gandalf, restoration of King Theoden’s power and Saruman’s forces defeated by the Ents, the battle for Middle-Earth continues. With Pippin unable to resist the temptation, he looks into the Eye of Sauron and inadvertedly reveals the location of Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and the rest all while witnessing unimaginable horrors. The remnants of the fellowship split up once again, with Gandalf and Pippin heading for Minas Tirith in Gondor to prepare for war, while Theoden, Aragorn and Legolas stay to gather the forces of Rohan. Betrayed by Gollum at the very heart and center of Mordor and with Frodo’s fate uncertain, Sam is left to carry the heavy burden alone into the depths of Sauron’s dominion.

The Return of the King is a tale of the face-off with hordes of Orcs and a desperate struggle to save Gondor from falling to ruins. With Boromir’s brother left to defend Osgiliath, the illusions of the Steward of Gondor are shattered into pieces. Both Gandalf and Pippin manage to play an influential role in the defence of the city and the ultimate salvation of its leadership, but the threat from Mordor continually overshadows all their efforts.

With the One Ring in Sam’s possession, he must journey past the Black Gate, save Frodo and reach Mount Doom to destroy it. With Middle-Earth’s fate hanging in the balance, the two brave hobbits must prove their will to succeed and save the land from doom. With the Shire in the back of their minds and with thoughts of returning home, there is only one last step to take.
