The Two Towers Plot

With Boromir’s attempt to seize the ring from Frodo, its dark power and overpowering influence on the will of men is fully revealed, leading to the dissolution of the fellowship of the ring. Although Frodo attempts to carry on the journey by eluding himself from the others, Samwise Gamgee, who refuses to part with his friend regardless of any danger ahead, intercepts him. With the fellowship now split, all the characters are dispersed and interwoven within a storyline that sees Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli as well as Merry and Pippin each playing an influential role in the battle of the two towers.

The second volume in the Lord of the Rings trilogy continues to take readers on a fast-paced, action-adventure and features several unexpected twists. Upon discovering that Merry and Pippin have both disappeared, Aragorn embarks on a quest, together with Legolas and Gimli, to find them. Charged with the duty of protecting Minas Tirith from the dark lord Sauron, Aragorn together with his party cross into the land of the Riders of Rohan, where they uncover a plot against King Theoden, but not without the help of an old friend hiding in the ancient Fangorn Forest.

With the danger of invasion by an army of Orcs and other monstrous creatures, sanctioned by Sauron’s dark power, King Theoden takes shelter in the valley of Helm’s Deep to repel the threat. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli attempt to save an ancient kingdom from destruction. What secrets have lied hidden in the Forest of Fangorn for centuries and how will they influence the ultimate outcome of a major battle? Gollum and the rangers of Gondor will ultimately influence Frodo’s journey to the Black Gate of Mordor and the fate of mankind. The plot thickens as Tolkien keeps the readers in suspense right until the end.
